Ash Scatterings aboard Schooner Freedom Cruises are traditionally 2 hours, but other durations can be arranged. Maximum occupancy is 49 persons. Freedom has a CD sound system - we can provide music or you can bring your own cds. Musicians are welcome on the Freedom - we can recommend one if you desire. Cruise includes all trip amenities. Additional drinks, such as champagne, may be brought; however, we cannot allow any hard liquor. Off site catering can be arranged - we can suggest local companies. We can accommodate a military funeral - arrangements must be made through your funeral home director or through the Dept. of Defense. This link provides more information on Military Honors. Typical Funeral Procedure Freedom will travel through the Bridge of Lions and offshore, where the scattering will take place. After a calm location is obtained, the vessel will heave-to (stop under sail) for the service. The ashes are scattered to leeward. The traditional bos'un's call is piped, the ships bell is rung, and a bagpipe version of Amazing Grace is played. Call for pricing and availability. Reduced pricing may be given to smaller groups at off-hours. Please note: our captains reserve the right to change the route of the trip if conditions offshore are not favorable. |
