Haunted Waters Ghost Tour
Friday Oct 30th & 31st
Back from the depths of the Matanzas, Schooner Freedom is reinstating a few haunted sails for this Halloween season. We are bringing back our classic stories of St. Augustine’s most haunted seaside history. Including spooky tales such as Mendedez’s massacre, the haunted natives at the Coquina pits, and the tragic tale of Andrew Ranson. All our tales are based on the true history of Saint Augustine’s more grimm past. The nation’s oldest city is full of spirits, and there’s no better way to try and catch a glimpse of one than on the silent waters of the Matanzas.
Join us for our Haunted Waters – Spirits on the Schooner Sail, with your professionally haunted guide, Captain J.S. Kent HMS & Gentlemen Adventurer. Reservations are highly recommended.

About Our Ghost Tours
When Freedom started sailing in 2001, a trip we offered every night was a 1 hour “Ghost of the Matanzas” Ghost Cruise. Our original advertisement read “This one hour spine-chilling cruise gives you an eerie perspective from the water about legends and tales of our Old City told in the first person. Enjoy the stories while sailing on St. Augustine’s only Tall Ship Schooner. Come aboard if you dare!” All of this still holds true for our remodeled “Haunted Waters” sail. Prepare to be thrilled with the ghostly history of Saint Augustine. After an 9 year hiatus, the captain and crew (and our ghosts) are thrilled to be bringing this haunted sail back to St. Augustine.
About Your Guide
Your storyteller for the sail is John Stavely, author, actor, and local historian. John has wowed the St Augustine’s crowds for years. He has a fascination for St. Augustine’s supernatural lore and he feels there is nothing finer than a good story told. He was among our first guides for our original ghost tours and wrote the original script and is excited to be rejoining us for this season. Captain Kent is “Back from the depths of the Matanzas!!”
